What is Primobolan (Primo)?
Primobolan, also known as Methenolone Enanthate, is a prescription drug used to treat certain cancers. It has been used explicitly in treating disseminated or inoperable breast carcinoma. In a study involving 43 patients with this type of cancer, they were treated with doses of 400 to 1,200 mg/week of Methenolone Enanthate for at least three months [1].
The therapeutic efficiency of Primobolan is comparable to that of testosterone propionate, but it is less virilizing. This means it has fewer side effects related to the development of male characteristics, such as deepening of the voice or growth of facial hair [1].
It's important to note that while Primobolan has shown potential in treating certain types of cancer, it should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional. As with any medication, it may have side effects and interactions with other drugs, so it's crucial to discuss these factors with a healthcare provider before starting treatment.
What is Trenbolone (Tren)?
Trenbolone is a synthetic testosterone analogue belonging to the nandrolone group. It is characterised by a strong anabolic effect and a limited androgenic effect, making it an androgen and anabolic steroid (AAS) [2].
Trenbolone is used in various ways. In the livestock industry, it is used as a growth promoter. It is administered to beef cattle to increase their appetite and body weight [2]. In some meat-producing countries, its use is licensed; in cattle, it is metabolised into 17α-trenbolone [3].
In sports, Trenbolone is used illegally by professional or amateur athletes who want to improve their athletic performance and appearance by increasing their muscle mass [2]. Studies have shown that all doses of Trenbolone can augment androgen-sensitive muscle mass by 35-40% above shams and produce dose-dependent partial protection against bone mineral density losses and visceral fat accumulation [4].
However, it's important to note that the use of Trenbolone is associated with numerous side effects, and its use is harmful, with 90% of users experiencing dangerous side effects [5].
Side effects
Primobolan and Trenbolone are both anabolic steroids that can have significant side effects.
Side effects of Primobolan
Primobolan, also known as methenolone, can lead to hyperlipoproteinemia, a condition characterised by high levels of lipoproteins in the blood. In a study involving 28 menopausal women with metastatic breast carcinoma, ten women developed hyperlipoproteinemia type IIa, while two developed hyperlipoproteinemia type IIb during treatment with methenolone [6].
Side effects of Trenbolone
Trenbolone, a synthetic testosterone analogue, has a strong anabolic effect and a limited androgenic effect. It is used illegally by athletes to improve their performance and appearance by increasing muscle mass. However, it can have harmful effects, with 90% of users experiencing dangerous side effects. These can include severe acne, gynaecomastia, excessive body hair, stretch marks, hypertension, and cardiac arrhythmia. Trenbolone can also cause local inflammation at the injection site, muscle adhesions and fibrosis, nerve damage, or, in extreme cases, necrosis of the injection site [2].
Are they safe to use?
While both Trenbolone and Primobolan can have beneficial effects, such as increased muscle mass and treatment of certain medical conditions, their use is not without risk. As we previously discussed, the potential for severe side effects, including hormonal imbalances, cardiovascular issues, and other systemic effects, raises significant safety concerns[7]. It's also important to note that the use of these substances is often illegal, and they are frequently misused in the athletic community. Therefore, their use should be approached with caution and ideally under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
