What is Trenbolone?

Trenbolone is a synthetic analogue of testosterone, belonging to the nandrolone group. It is characterized by a strong anabolic effect and a limited androgenic effect, which makes it an androgen and anabolic steroid (AAS) [1].

Trenbolone is used illegally by professional or amateur athletes who want to improve their athletic performance and appearance by increasing their muscle mass. It is also used as a growth promoter in beef cattle [1]. Despite its harmful side effects, the popularity of Trenbolone is increasing due to its potent anabolic effects [1]. Trenbolone is used in some meat-producing countries where it is licensed. In cattle, it is metabolized into 17α-trenbolone [2].

What is Dianabol?

Dianabol, also known as methandrostenolone, is an anabolic steroid that has a wide range of applications. It is a synthetic substance that is chemically similar to testosterone. This hormone is crucial in developing male reproductive tissues and promotes secondary sexual characteristics such as increased muscle and bone mass.

One of the primary uses of Dianabol is in bodybuilding and athletics. It is known to increase muscle mass and strength. A study conducted on rats showed that the administration of Dianabol significantly increased the subjects' strength [3]. Another study on female guinea pigs revealed that Dianabol influenced the degradation rate of myofibrillar proteins in the heart and skeletal muscles, which could contribute to muscle growth and strength [4].

Dianabol has also been studied for its potential therapeutic effects. For instance, it has been found to have immunomodulatory and anti-cancer activities. In a study, a biotransformed product of Dianabol showed potent inhibition of T-cell proliferation and exhibited anti-cancer activity against lung cancer cell lines [5].

Side effects

Side effects of Trenbolone

Trenbolone is associated with a range of side effects. Approximately 90% of users experience harmful side effects [1]. These can include severe acne and gynaecomastia, affecting about one-third of all users. Other side effects include excessive body hair, stretch marks, hypertension, and cardiac arrhythmia. Trenbolone use can also result in local inflammation at the injection site, muscle adhesions and fibrosis, nerve damage, or, in extreme cases, necrosis of the injection site [1].

Side effects of Dianabol

Long-term use of Dianabol can lead to liver damage, including cholestasis, peliosis hepatis, and diffuse hepatitis [6]. It can also inhibit protein synthesis in the thymus [7]. Other side effects include transient sterility, gynecomastia, acne, balding, and psychological changes [8].

Trenbolone and Dianabol can significantly affect immune responses and extrapituitary production of corticotropin [9]. They can also lead to a decrease in the number of sperm produced, mainly when used at high doses, which can affect fertility [10].

Safety Concerns

Anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) like Trenbolone and Dianabol (methandrostenolone) are synthetic derivatives of testosterone developed for steroid replacement and treatment of debilitating conditions.[1, 2].

However, the safety of these substances is a matter of concern. Studies have shown that excessive use of AAS is associated with cardiovascular diseases, mood changes, and endocrine and metabolic disorders [11]. In a study where subjects received 5 milligrams of Dianabol twice daily for three weeks, the strength of treated subjects increased significantly, but the long-term effects were not studied [3]. Moreover, a study found that less than 5% of websites selling steroids presented accurate health risk information about steroids or provided information to abusers seeking to discontinue their steroid use [12]. This suggests that misinformation about the safety of these substances is widespread.
